Financial District

New York City's Financial District is a neighborhood in the southernmost portion of Manhattan. The neighborhood consists of the corporate offices and headquarters of numerous major banking organizations, including the likes of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The Financial District has a full-time residential population of about 56,000 people. During the day, the population increases to around 300,000 when including commuters, workers, and other personnel.


The neighborhood is situated in the area south of City Hall Park, but excluding both Battery Park and Battery Park City which are to the immediate south of the Financial District. The "central nerve center" of the Financial District is usually regarded as the corner of Wall Street and Broad Street, each of which is contained completely within the neighborhood. Wall Street itself is one of the most famous streets in the entire world. It is mostly known for being the exact location of many different stock brokerage firms.


The Financial District also boasts a bunch of famous tourist attractions which includes the adjacent South Street Seaport Historic District, Museum of American Finance, and New York City Police Museum. The Museum of Jewish Heritage as well as the Skyscraper Museum can be found in adjacent Battery Park City as well. Transportation to and from NYC's Financial District is an absolute breeze, and living in the neighborhood allows you to right near the place of your employment if you indeed happen to work in the Financial District as well as reside there.
